a B Corp

We are a B Corp!

“Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies like ours that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (“BIA”) and therefore meet therequirements set by B Lab for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonized standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardization bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions.

As a testament to our commitment to sustainable development, in 2021, Il Mangiar Sano Spa and Creabio Srl changed their legal form and became Benefit Corporations, aiming to uphold high environmental and social standards. In the same year, both companies obtained B Corp certification for all Germinal Bio branded products.

B Corps™ are a global network of companies that use business as a force for good.

We adhere to high standards of social and environmental impact, striving every day to operate virtuously in order to inspire positive change.

Sustainable and recyclable packs

We have always been committed to using 100% recyclable packaging.
In addition, since 2019, the inner bags of many Germinal Bio branded products have been replaced with industrially biodegradable and compostable material, certified 'Ok Compost' according to the European standard Uni En 13432.
Furthermore, secondary flowpack packaging has largely been replaced with paper boxes.

FSC® certified paper

For our product boxes and communication materials, we have chosen to use 100% virgin paper, reducing paper consumption by 30%.
Over 80% of the paper we purchase comes from responsibly managed forests and is FSC® certified.

Our food supply chains

Traced supply chain

Valuing supply chains within a circular economy perspective is a long-term strategic goal for us.

We work with short, certified, and guaranteed supply chains to ensure full traceability from field to table, and, where feasible, we opt for 100% Italian raw materials.

In order to support Italian agricultural companies, we have established supply chain agreements that offer fair pricing in line with the quality of the raw materials.

Additionally, we partner with Altromercato for the procurement of cane sugar, cocoa, spices, and other raw materials sourced from fair trade and solidarity-based ethical supply chains.

Renewable energy

We use only electricity from renewable and sustainable sources. The roofs of our three facilities host modern photovoltaic systems, and the remaining electricity needs, drawn from the grid, comes from renewable sources.

Solidarity

Diversity and inclusion

Sustainability doesn't mean only reducing our negative impact on the environment; it also means adding value to the local area and the society in which we are embedded.

Through years of collaboration with the associations active in our country, we support local communities every year with inclusion and social enhancement projects.
